| Elaine’s
love affair with Papillons goes back about 30 years, when a
neighbour owned three red and white bitches. Over the years
we often used to watch Papillons being judged at shows and
learned as much about the breed as we could. We took the plunge
and booked a puppy late 2004 and after some disappointments
finally brought ‘Zinnia’ (Alwenil
Skips Butterfly for Altaya) home
in the summer.
Obviously, mixing
a Papillon with a larger breed you do
have to be very careful, and, although
the Salukis all love her, it would be
very easy for an accident to happen,
so playtimes are always supervised.
We are really delighted
with her, she is full of character and
energy and very intelligent, she is even
obedient which takes a lot of getting
used to! She is the first to know when
anything is going on outside the house
and very quick to learn.
Showing
Papillons is very competitive and we
are in a learning curve at the moment
but we do hope to have a litter from
her one day and would love to establish
our own line of these beautiful little
dogs and show them more seriously.
